DAR – Daughters of the American Revolution

California State Society

Western Shores Chapter, NSDAR

Long Beach, California

Welcome

Western Shores Chapter, NSDAR, has a rich heritage of promoting DAR objectives and values, serving Long Beach, Lakewood, and the surrounding communities, and honoring the Patriots of the American Revolutionary War. Our chapter projects seek to help students and veterans, and our monthly programs focus on genealogy, historic preservation, education, patriotism, and personal growth.

Please join us at one of our monthly meetings! We meet from September through June for socializing and listening to an informative, captivating speaker, along with member “minute reports” on conservation, our flag, patriots, and other topics. Meetings and events are held at public places conveniently located in or near Long Beach, CA. Many members are from the local area, although local residency is not a requirement for membership. Please contact our Regent for the exact meeting day, time, and location.

Our Facebook page is Western Shores Chapter, NSDAR.

Junior Membership

Junior Members are a special designation for young ladies ages 18 through 35 who are members of NSDAR. They hold full membership and are encouraged to participate at every level. When qualified, Junior Members may serve as chairmen or officers at the chapter, state, and national levels of our society. Leadership training is available and encouraged, and Juniors often serve as Pages at state meetings and Continental Congress. Junior members provide energy and fresh ideas and are the future of NSDAR — we welcome new junior members to join others in service and fellowship!

Our Purpose

The purpose of Western Shores Chapter, NSDAR, is threefold:

Interested in Joining?

We welcome any woman for membership who is 18 years of age or older, who is descended from a man or woman who aided in achieving American independence during the period between April 19, 1775, and November 26, 1783 (from the Battle of Lexington to the withdrawal of British troops from New York).

We invite you to meet with our vibrant and friendly membership team at one of our monthly meetings. Gathering your documentation may sound like a daunting task, but our chapter Registrar will be happy to help you with your research and application process — you do not need to have all of your genealogical research completed in order to begin your application. We welcome prospective new members, and DAR members who are relocating to Long Beach, Lakewood, or the surrounding area. We would be delighted to meet you! To work directly with a volunteer genealogist, contact our Registrar.
