DAR – Daughters of the American Revolution

California State Society

Serrano Chapter, NSDAR

Glendora, California

Welcome

The Serrano Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was organized in 1971 as an affiliate chapter of the California State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (CSSDAR) to serve Glendora and surrounding communities. We meet in Glendora on the third Saturday of the month, January through May and September through December, inclusive, except when special dates are set by the chapter. For more information, please email the Serrano Chapter, NSDAR.

A plaque at the base of a tree planted by our chapter in Gladstone Park reflects our dedication to our Patriots. The Serrano Chapter, NSDAR, has planted many trees that have been dedicated to past regents and deceased members.

About Us

The Serrano Chapter, NSDAR, was founded on November 30, 1971, at the Glendora Country Club. The founding chapter regent was Maryan Gerken. She and some other charter members had been members of the Covina Chapter, NSDAR. The charter was presented by Mrs. Robert L. Sperry, public relations national vice-chairman, western division, NSDAR, and the officers of the new chapter were installed by Mrs. Frank Mettlach, Vice President General, NSDAR.

In November 2019, at the Glendora Country Club, we celebrated 48 years of Serrano Chapter, NSDAR. During that time we have received many honors, our membership has grown, and we are active in our community.

Glendora’s Old Firehouse

Glendora’s first city hall, fire department, and police department (jail) was built in 1913. It was used until the new city hall was built in 1921. Various civic and church groups used the building until 1976, when it opened as the Glendora Historical Society Museum. In 1988–89, an addition was built behind the original building to provide more space for the historical society’s growing collection of Glendora artifacts.

The marker was placed by Serrano Chapter, NSDAR, in 1982.
