San Clemente Island Chapter, NSDAR

San Juan Capistrano, California

Welcome

San Clemente Island Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), is located in beautiful South Orange County, California. We are an energetic group of about 135 members. Among us, you will find teachers, medical professionals, lawyers, young mothers, grandmothers, and women from all walks of life. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War, is eligible for membership in the DAR.

In joining, we have found many opportunities for new experiences and ways to give back to our community. DAR is an organization for women which offers a wide variety of choices for involvement in areas of interest to the individual. Our members are actively involved in community libraries, schools, literacy programs, museums, and aid to military families and veterans. Our mission is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. We may join for the respected ideals of DAR, but along the way, we make lifelong friends and make a difference in our community.

The chapter’s name was chosen because of its proximity to San Clemente Island. Our meetings are typically held in the San Juan Capistrano area. Our membership draws from South Orange County cities such as San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Ladera Ranch, and Rancho Mission Viejo. Local residency is not a requirement for membership.
