Mission Viejo Chapter, NSDAR
Mission Viejo, California
Welcome
The Mission Viejo Chapter, NSDAR, is rated the highest level for achieving the goals and objectives of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). We are actively recruiting new members who enjoy our variety of opportunities to use their skills, make friendships, and be part of a service-oriented women’s society. Most of our more than 180 members reside in California, and we welcome family members who qualify for admission from other states as well.
Members of our chapter’s Lineage Research Committee volunteer at the Mission Viejo Library Genealogy Department to assist with genealogical research. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War is eligible for membership. Our members volunteer hundreds of hours of service to support our community veterans and active servicemen and women, fundraise for historical preservation projects within our community, and provide scholarship awards to local students and donations to under-served school children.

Our History
The Mission Viejo Chapter, NSDAR, has been reaching out to our communities since 1983. We take great pride in our volunteer efforts throughout our region and state-wide. We take part in teaching schoolchildren about our U.S. Constitution during Constitution Week in September, conduct service projects to help our veterans and their families, and participate in local events and fairs promoting education in U.S. history from our country’s humble beginnings to the laws that are still followed over 240 years later.
Below are just a few of the events we participate in and host every year:
- Oktoberfest, raising funds to benefit local community college veterans and high school scholarships
- Regent’s Project Fundraiser, an annual event to help raise funds toward a cause chosen by our chapter regent
- Veterans Day and Memorial Day commemorations, honoring our military with annual events and projects

Do you have a Revolutionary War Patriot in your family tree? Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution honors and preserves the legacy of your Patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago, American Patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of DAR, through participation in the Society’s various programs and activities, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors. Contact our Registrar if you are interested in becoming a member of our chapter.
