DAR – Daughters of the American Revolution

California State Society

Malibu Chapter, NSDAR

Malibu, California

Welcome

The Malibu Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was organized on June 12, 1991, and took its name from the then recently incorporated city of Malibu, California. Malibu is from the Chumash word Humaliwo, meaning “where the surf sounds loudly.” The “Malibu Colony” had been a well-known beach area for decades, popularized by early movie personalities. The city of Malibu now spans 27 miles of coastline, comprising the northwestern edge of Los Angeles County.

Malibu Chapter, NSDAR, has built a solid tradition of community service, education, and strength through heritage. The chapter that meets “where the surf sounds loudly” has taken its place among the many inspired chapters of California.
