DAR – Daughters of the American Revolution

California State Society

Los Angeles-Eschscholtzia Chapter, NSDAR

Los Angeles, California

Welcome

The Los Angeles-Eschscholtzia Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was organized in Los Angeles in 1894 as the Eschscholtzia Chapter, NSDAR, and was the second chapter in the state of California. Eschscholtzia derives its name from the California state flower, the Golden Poppy — scientific name, Eschscholtzia Californica.

The Los Angeles Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on December 6, 1911, by a group of Eschscholtzia Chapter, NSDAR, members who believed that their chapter had grown very large and wanted to establish a new chapter for more effective participation. In the fall of 2004, it was proposed that the Los Angeles Chapter, NSDAR, and Eschscholtzia Chapter, NSDAR, once again merge. Today the chapter has over 140 members and is listed as the second chapter in the state of California.

We are a diverse and welcoming group of women from every generation. Our chapter holds meetings that include formal teas, as well as more casual socials. Our annual fundraisers are always lively, fun, and historically inspired! Our meetings are often on the second Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m. in the mid-Los Angeles area. We have occasional Wednesday lunch meetings, and evening and weekend social gatherings organized by our many committees, from Service to America volunteerism to conservation efforts and field trips to historical sites.

If you are interested in joining our busy and welcoming chapter, or attending a business meeting or social to get to know us, please contact our chapter Regent.
