California State Society

Butterfield Trail Chapter, NSDAR

Corona, California

Welcome

The Butterfield Trail Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), signed our Report of Organization on October 11, 2020, the 130th anniversary of the founding of the NSDAR and the NSDAR Day of Service. Our chapter was organized in Corona, California, on November 5, 2020, with 33 members.

Our chapter name was selected to honor the trail that carried the longest transcontinental stage line. The Butterfield Trail crossed through the area that would later become Corona, carrying transportation and communication to tie California and other western territories to established portions of the United States east of the Mississippi River. On May 25, 1934, the site of the Temescal Butterfield Stage Station was marked; at that time, the ruins of the adobe station were still extant. The marker was replaced in 2006.

Any woman who is 18 years of age or older, and who is descended from a man or woman who aided in achieving American independence during the period between April 19, 1775, and November 26, 1783, is welcome to join our chapter. We meet on the second Sunday of the month from January through April, the first Sunday in May, and the second Sunday from September through December. Please contact us if you would like to join us.

About Us

Future Butterfield Trail Chapter, NSDAR, members started volunteering on the NSDAR Day of Service before we were even officially a chapter, cleaning grave markers at the historic Corona Cemetery and signing thank-you cards for veterans. After Butterfield Trail Chapter, NSDAR, was recognized as a chapter, we donated more than 350 pounds of food to the Corona Settlement House for families in the Corona Norco School District. Our Community Classroom Committee collected art supplies for foster children with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Riverside County.

Through our Project Patriot Committee, we provide personal items for women who are deployed, and we wear red on Fridays to “Remember Everyone Deployed.” We look forward to opportunities to serve schools in the Corona Norco School District, honor veterans through Wreaths Across America, and promote historic preservation and love of country.
