California State Society

Bakersfield Chapter, NSDAR

Bakersfield, California

Welcome

Bakersfield Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), meets the first Tuesday of the month, with a few Saturday meetings to accommodate our working members, January through May and September through December exclusively. We boast a membership of over 185 women who work to serve God, Home, and Country.

We welcome any woman 18 years of age or older who is descended from a man or woman who aided in achieving American independence during the period between April 19, 1775, and November 26, 1783. If you are interested in attending a meeting, please contact the chapter regent for meeting times and location, or the chapter registrar for more information regarding eligibility and the application process.

About Us

The reality of friends coming together to form a chapter within the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution occurred on April 26, 1921, with a membership of 14 women. On October 7, 1995, Bakersfield Chapter, NSDAR, merged with Grapevine Canyon Chapter, NSDAR.

Bakersfield Chapter, NSDAR, supports and participates in projects for active military and veterans of all wars, reforestation and other ‘green projects,’ Native American schools, and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) in town.

Supporting the local schools, Bakersfield Chapter, NSDAR, recognizes and honors participants in the DAR Good Citizens scholarship program, honors local Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) by presenting bronze medals to cadets from four schools, and presents awards to elementary and junior high school students participating in the American History Essay contests.

Bakersfield Chapter, NSDAR, also supports the DAR Schools with donations of thrift items, Box Tops for Education, Campbell’s product labels, and numerous monetary donations. We have members active at district and state levels — we are consistently an award-winning chapter!
